Slam Dunk Comparison ver.2

SLAM DUNK is undoubtedly No.1 basketball anime of all time.  Last week I listed some main characters from it, and this time I will continue it.  This comparison is from NBA players who are currently playing in the league in 2019-20.

Miyagi Ryota: Miyagi is a PG in Shohoku high school.  He is good at fighting like Sakuragi, but unlike Sakuragi, his basketball IQ is pretty high.  He is one of the fastest players in SLAM DUNK and also good at passing and faking.  From these future, his best comparison is Rajon Rondo.  Rondo has top level of passing and fake in the league.  Isaiah Thomas is also good comparison, but unlike Isaiah, Miyagi is not scorer since Rukawa is scorer in the team.  Rondo was never scorer in the team, so Rondo is the best comparison.

Jin Soichiro: Jin is the best 3p shooter in the SLAM DUNK, in the story he made all the 3p he shot, which means his 3p percentage is 100%.  There is not NBA player who shot 3p 100%.  He can be compared to Joe Harris or Kyle Kover.  Of course the best 3p shooter in the league is Curry, but the play style differs from Curry.  Curry can make space and drive to the rim, but Jin needs inside player to make space and is more of a 3p specialist.  Kover has an NBA record of 53.6% of 3p percentage.  It seems Kover fits the most.

Maki Shinichi: Maki was compared to Magic Johnson since his play style is as same as Magic.  He is one of the best all round player in the SLAM DUNK.  He can score, pass, and defense.  NBA’s all rounder is Lebron and Westbrook, and Kainan High school is winning team.  So it seems like Lebron in Miami.  Miki is reigning as king in the story and Lebron is king too.  only difference is Maki is not as athletic as Lebron.  But Lebron does not only depend on his physical ability but also has skills such as post move, pass, fake, spin, and so on.  He is great comparison to Maki.

Kiyota Nobunaga: Kiyota was compared to Shawn Kemp because of his vertical jumper and dunking ability.  He is not as tall as other players but in the story, it seems he is the best dunker in SLAM DUNK.  Today’s NBA most of the small players are really good at shooting, but Kiyota is really bad at shooting, there is not a scene that he attempted jump shot.  Only time his shoot was not dunk is free throw and he did not make it.  Dennis Smith Jr has the highest vertical jump in NBA today.  He is also not good at shooting.  Although he is not good at shooting, he can dunk on anyone like Kiyota.
