MVP Candidates in Next 5 Years!

Who Will Win MVP in Next 5 Years?

Every year, there are many players who are improving and showing that they can be the best player in the league.  Few years ago, there was a discussion about “Who will be the next LeBron James?” which means to say “who will be the face of the NBA?”  At that time most of the people predicted that Anthony Davis or Karl Anthony Towns will be the next LeBron.

Stephen A. Smith and Max Kellerman argued about these to young talents.  These two players are already becoming superstar at that time.  And their point of the argument was KAT was able to hit 3P even before he entered NBA, and AD just started to acquire 3P.  At the same time, the legendary player Kareem Abdul-Jabbar commented answered a question that “if Giannis Antetokounmpo is a franchise player or not?”  And he commented that unlike others saying “Giannis is the next LeBron James.  He will be the NBA’s iconic player.”  And now Giannis is a reigning MVP today.  And it seems like he will still earn some more MVP titles.

This time I would like to focus future top 5 MVP candidates in next 5 years.

Honorable mention

Jayson Tatum

Each year, he is making progress and showing his great potential, but since he always have veteran guard team mate, he is not leading the team yet.

Ben Simmons

Simmons has outstanding skill to go inside and pass or finish.  Despite of his position, he cannot hit 3P, he still get into All-Star team which is absolutely great, but since now is the 3P era, he needs to be able to hit 3P to earn the MVP title.

Nikola Jokic

The Joker has been playing very well and there is not wonder if he earns MVP any soon, but there is a problem that is not letting him to earn MVP.  He is too dedicated to the team play.  Many of the MVP player had roll to step up and be a little more selfish.

Ja Morant

Before season starts, Ja Morant was not widely talked about among NBA fans because of Zion Williamson.  But since Zion was not able to play at beginning of the 19-20 season, Ja Morant became No.1 ROY candidate.  He has skills and athleticism, so he has great potential to earn MVP in the future.

5. Zion Williamson

When Zion was still in high school, he was already called “NEXT LEBRON.”  Even after he went to college, he proved that he is the No.1 draft pick and has bright future awaiting for him.  Despite of his height which is shorter than the average of the NBA players, he has strong body like a tank, and he is good at rebound especially grabbing his own shots.  Yest he has the highest potential as player, but he also has potential to have injuries.

4. Damian Lillard

Damian Lillard was one of the most underrated players in the league because there are many superstars in same position such as Stephen Curry, Russel Westbrook, and Kyrie Irving.  Although he did not stand out like others many people started to notice that Lillard has as same range as Stephen Curry, and he is a great clutch player like Kobe or MJ.  When his team wins more game, he will have higher potential to win MVP.

3. Giannis Antetokounmpo

Reigning MVP is still young and healthy, and there is not sign of injury or slowing down.  Actually he is still getting better each year especially he is working on his shooting.  It is very rare that a player who are not good at 3P can win the MVP because NBA is in 3P era.  Please imagine that Giannis can hit 3P like other shooters.  6’11 height with athleticism who can jump over a player during game, and also he was 2nd in DPOY 18-19 season.  That is just too good.  If he becomes great shooter, there is a possibility that Giannis might be GOAT in the future.

2. Anthony Davis

AD has always been in MVP race since 14-15 season.  It is rare that a player who are in weak team can be in MVP race because unlike ROY, stats are not the only way to see the players.  Team result is a very important in choosing MVP because if a good player is in the weakest team. even if he is not outstanding, he still can record great stats since he is the only good player.  AD has been in Pelicans, and he did not have solid GOOD teammate except for Jrue Holiday.  Yes, he had DeMarcus Cousins, but most of the time, Cousins was injured.  Now he is in the winning team with a No.1 player in the league, he has a great potential to win MVP in next few years.

1. Luka Doncic

Before Luka played in the NBA, people was expecting that he is soft and not able to adjust to NBA style of play, but ALL of them were wrong.  In his rookie season, he won ROY and his second season, before games were canceled, he was in 5th place in the ladder.  He is too good in this young age.  He can shoot in and out, he can pass, he is clutch, and he can lead the team.  He has all the skill to win the MVP.  Now Mavs has lots of international players who are good, team chemistry is good and players are talented.  Team can help him to win the MVP.
